Resources from the 10th Jungmann Society Congress Now Available

The 10th Congress of the International Jungmann Society for Jesuits and Liturgy took place from July 1–6, 2024, at the Cebu Center for Ignatian Spirituality in the Philippines, gathering forty-six participants from seventeen countries.

The congress explored the theme of liturgical formation within the Society of Jesus, a topic given renewed urgency by Pope Francis’ 2022 apostolic letter Desiderio desideravi, which calls for “serious and vital liturgical formation” in the life of the Church. Through plenary presentations, group discussions, and shared prayer, Jesuits and their collaborators reflected on how liturgical life shapes the Society’s mission today, addressing themes such as community celebration, inculturation, the role of the daily Eucharist, and the integration of liturgical prayer into apostolic work.

The Jungmann Society, an international association of Jesuits with academic expertise in liturgy and related fields, seeks to deepen the Church’s evangelizing mission through worship, scholarship, and dialogue. Continuing this commitment, the Society has now made available the full resources from the 10th Congress, including all presentations and the previously unpublished 2010 document Liturgical Life and Formation in the Society of Jesus. These materials can be accessed on our website, offering a valuable resource for those engaged in promoting authentic liturgical formation and renewal in Jesuit and wider ecclesial contexts.
